The Norwegian Minister of Industry Jan Christian Vestre was impressed by what he learned when he visited Trosvik together with local representatives from municipal administration, politics and trade unions. The background for the visit was the exciting assignment Trosvik has been given to build two so-called USVs – Unmanned Service Vessels.
From Lithuania to Brevik The hulls were built by Trosvik’s subcontractor Passer SIDC, an industrial workshop in the city of Klaipeda in Lithuania. From there they were towed on barges to Brevik, where they were recently lifted ashore, and are now ready to be completed in the large shipyard hall at Trosvik. According to the plan, the ships are to be delivered during the 1st and 2nd quarter of 2024, says Trosvik’s project manager Marcel Roumans.
Advanced technology Trosvik’s client is Kongsberg Maritime, which has developed both the design and the highly advanced technology in the ships. The end customer is Reach Subsea, a leading provider of underwater services. The two sister ships are an important part of the company’s innovative Reach Remote concept, which is expected to contribute to bring subsea operations to another level.
