Heavy lifting at Trosvik!

There is a lot of interdisciplinary expertise that must come into play when a 165-tonne module from Aker Carbon Capture for the Brevik CCS project is to be taken out of the main hall in Trosvik and craned from the deep-water quay onto a barge!

The approx. The 12-meter high and 165 tonne heavy module is produced in the large shipyard hall at Trosvik. On Tuesday 27 February, it was ready for transport to Aker’s CCS project in Brevik. There was a considerable apparatus of competent professionals in motion to get the colossus out of the hall to the deep-water quay where Kranringen’s large barge crane “Taklift” was ready to hoist the module onto transport barges for further transport by sea to Heidelberg’s cement factory in Brevik.

Roof lift: The 165-tonne module was lifted from Trosvik’s deep-water quay onto the transport barge for onward transport by sea to Heidelberg’s cement factory in Brevik.

– It is nice to see that there is full activity in our main hall again, says general manager of Trosvik Yard AS, Geir Ole Elvheim. – There are not many shipyard facilities in the south/east of Norway that can take on such large industrial projects. Here at Trosvik, we have a large shipyard hall, good crane capacity and ISPS-approved quay facilities, says the Yard manager, who was pleased to note that the shipyard facilities at Trosvik delivered this time as well.

Satisfied: General manager of Trosvik Yard, Geir Ole Elvheim, was pleased to report that the yard facilities at Trosvik are delivering.
