“The delivery of Reach Remote I on January 16, 2025, marks a proud and significant milestone for us at Trosvik. This is a unique unmanned inspection vessel packed with advanced technology. The vessel represents a major innovation in offshore and subsea operations,” says Trosvik’s Project Manager, Geir Kristoffersen Sæther.
“This is a prestigious project for Trosvik, our client Kongsberg Maritime, the operator Massterly and – not least – the end customer Reach Subsea, says Sæther.
Unmanned and Packed with Technology
REACH REMOTE is a 24-meter-long unmanned surface vessel loaded with cutting-edge technology. It is equipped with an ROV, or remotely operated underwater vehicle. Before delivery, the vessel underwent an intensive program of sea trials monitored by the classification society Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and the Norwegian Maritime Authority.
Groundbreaking for Subsea Operations
Reach Subsea states on its website that REACH REMOTE represents a groundbreaking approach to underwater operations – in contrast to traditional manned underwater vessels. The USV concept will positively impact efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability, aiming to reduce emissions by 90%.
Kongsberg Maritime notes on its website: “A new era for offshore operations has begun!” And further:
“This groundbreaking achievement marks a significant milestone in collaboration between Kongsberg Maritime, REACH SUBSEA ASA, Massterly, and Trosvik.”
